Comprehensive Leadership for Youth Coaches

The Arizona High School Cycling League’s annual Leaders’ Summit brings together head coaches, assistant coaches, ride leaders, and parent volunteers—both new and experienced—to develop skills and knowledge, share strategies, and build community. This conference will promote a holistic approach to coaching that creates an environment in which young people can grow and thrive. It also provides the opportunity for participants to learn all about the league structure and processes, how to start a mountain bike team, how to work with their schools, issues related to liability, and the unique intricacies of working with high school cyclists.

We will be offering two Leaders’ Summits in 2013 in order to better serve the far reaching geography of our coaches and teams.  This will also provide participants will some scheduling flexibility and the smaller class sizes of two conferences (versus just one) will yield more ideal instructor to participant ratios.  The first session will be on March 23-24 at Pivot Cycles in Tempe.  The course will be offered again on April 13-14 at Mile High Middle School in Prescott.  Both conferences will have the same curriculum.

Those interested in obtaining a Head Coach or Assistant Coach License: Register for the two-day Saturday and Sunday conference.

Those interested in a NICA Ride Leader License can participate in the one-day Saturday program that will include both Risk Management and MTB 101. Choosing this option will satisfy the requirements for Professional Development at the NICA Rider Leader License level.
